Even though I have retired now, my past as a raver during the 00’s has resulted in an intense fascination for neon colored lights. What I would really love to put on my bike is this, but the lights are super expensive with a price tag of 199$. In addition to that, it is quite a time consuming and complicated process to attach all the lights.
What I have found as a hack to put on my bike are neon colored led strings that attached to my bike looks like this:
They’re cheap and cost me only a few dollars on Amazon, but taking it on and off the bike can be a big hassle. It takes a couple of minutes and it can be tricky to get it to look good sometimes. Another problem when using them as a bike light at night is that even though they are visible, they are not bright enough to give any light to the ground in front of the bike. In other words, they do not increase safety as much as a real bike light would.
Me riding only with my provisional bike light is soon to change since Gotham is going to do extensive testing of the new bike light with their employees. Meaning that I cannot put the led strings on my bike every time I ride at night. But once in a while, you can see me around Boston/Cambridge, biking like it’s 1999.
